No country for old men

If you can take the casual killings and gore and spewing blood of Tarantino movies then you should definitely like this. Of course this movie is not new and many of you must have seen this already seen this but I saw it today. The style of film is pretty much the same as previous movies of Coen brothers. The relative lack of action, long silent scenes and open landscapes. People having long conversations which are very much informal and full of their local mannerisms but not all small talk.

Their film making style, which I don't find that engaging, fits quite well to the dark tone of this movie. The thrill of being chased by a crazed killer, who is not just killing for fun either but believes in some great cause. The killer likes to ask a lot of questions and challenges the motivations of the people he is about to kill. The people who are about to be murdered by this killer are answering the calmly asked questions with pretty much a gun in their face and waiting for their imminent death. The fear, the awkwardness and the passing moments leading to death create a chilling feeling.

This is based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy, who has pretty much maintained his writing style in this novel as was in The Road. Another dark story, with people capable of unimaginable and the survivors desperate and fighting for life.
